On Comet Page 5
"It’s the beginning of summer vacations, traffic is crazy, sorry Mrs. Kringle," Nate replied.
Once Noel’s was out of the red, Nick retired and handed one hundred percent of the reins over to Comet. And once Noel’s had repaid Comet the loan he had given the company to save it, he had become a regular fucking-wolf-of-Wall-Street. Of course like all things there were pros and cons.
Pros: we had money to do whatever we wanted. Noel’s was secure for more generations. And, I had someone who happily supported my shopping habit.
Cons: my husband (I loved saying that, even after three years of marriage I still got all tingly every time I said it) now had the financial means to support his inner alpha side. Case in point; Nate. I now have a driver who is trained in defensive driving maneuvers.
God, I hated to think how Comet was going to react once I told him the news. I patted my purse. The man was probably going to buy a tank and force me to ride in that.
"We’re here Mrs. Kringle."
I glanced out the window, I’d been so lost in thought that I hadn’t realized that we were at Noel’s. Nate opened my door, "Thanks. I’ll just go home with Cee." Yeah, I call him Comet but to everyone else he was still Cee.
"Very well." Nate waited and watched until I was inside before he got back into the car.
“Hi, Vixen."
"Hello, Mrs. Kringle."
"Good Afternoon, Vixen."
I waved and said hello to everyone as I walked through the store and headed for the elevator. Once inside, I pressed the button and rehearsed what I was going to say as the elevator slowly rose to the third floor. Before the doors opened, I took a deep breath, and straightened my shoulders.
I headed to the corner office, the left corner office, mine was the one on the right.
"Is he in a meeting?" I asked Mary.
"Nope."
"Hold all calls will you?"
"Sure thing." Mary gave me a wide smile.
I pushed the door open and stepped in.
"What do I owe this surprise to, I thought you were taking the day off to get some errands done?" Comet stood and then swiftly moved across the room to meet me. Cupping my face, he lowered his mouth to mine. His tongue tangled with mine, slowly at first, like seeking permission before devouring me.
When Comet finally pulled back and I got a breath in, I answered him. "I finished my errands and needed to come by and talk to you about something."
"Is everything okay?"
I nodded. "You remember when we were kids and we thought the magic of Christmas began behind the scenes?"
"Yeah, it began with Rudolph." Comet chuckled. "But it really began the day you agreed to marry me."
"That’s when it began for you"—I reached in my purse and pulled out the picture—"for me, this is where the magic begins." I handed Comet the ultrasound photo, across the top in computer typography it was marked, Due December 25.

Hard Blow
He’s hot, cocky, and a professional football player.
I’m a physical trainer ordered to help him recoup after a hard blow.
I can’t stand him.
Okay, maybe I can tolerate him.
Who am I kidding, the man is drop dead sexy.
He’s hot, cocky, and good with his mouth.
Now I find myself wanting to give him a hard blow.
